Anxiety

Anxiety is the hand maiden of creativity "

It's a funny thing that voice in the back of your mind - always there , always whispering. Triggers act like a lighter to the fuse of a bomb. Wind. Social events. Flying. Car drives. Each one as personal as a fingerprint.

The attacks come swift as though your throat & lungs were prey , consumed by a sly fox who moves ever so gracefully through the forest that is your body. It is not your significant other holding you as it occurs , whispering sweet things in your ear - it is waking up at 3 in the morning unable to breathe as the voice becomes too loud in your head, repeating all your insecurities and worries over and over.

"Oh grow up, it is all in your head"

Anxiety is a life consuming disease. It is a constant battle of mind and body. Some of the most beautiful souls , struggle daily with this disease and are shunned upon when voicing their problems. It is not something that one can simply "switch off" nor is it something to be romanticized.

One's mental health is the single most important thing one has.

This being said, if there is someone or something, whether it is school or a toxic friendship which causes your mental health to deteriorate, walk away. It may take minutes, days, or even years for you to feel brave enough to walk but I can assure you, it will bring you only happiness.

There are ways in which one can learn to control this fox - finding a way to calm yourself is going to be one of the most draining and terrifying journeys you as a person will embark. For example, find a place (whether it is in nature, an abandoned apartment,a secret beach, in reality or in your mind palace - it is your choice) and sit there until you feel ready to face the world. Each person will have a way which fits their voice, as each voice is unique - the hardest part is simply starting the journey.

The most important thing to remember is that you are not alone &  your struggle is not a indication of failure.

It is okay to ask for help.
